Around 3,000 people attended a ceremony celebrating the laying of the foundation stone for a new community for the former residents of Gush Katif. The community, Givat Chazan, is located in the Lachish Region, in southwest Israel.

A new Torah scroll will soon be completed and placed in the first permanent synagogue for the former residents of Gush Katif. The synagogue is in Bnei Netzarim, a new town housing the former residents of Netzarim, located in Chalutza, a desert area south of Gaza.
