Around 400 schools around Israel recalled the uprooted communities of Gush Katif today. Although the Education Ministry approved the idea, around 90% of the schools who held such commemorations were religious, and mostly from the National Religious (Dati Leumi) sector.

This week, schools around Israel will be remembering the expulsion from Gush Katif. Ynet reports that the Education Ministry has not opposed this step and has left it to the discretion of the schools. The day, marked by memorial events and discussions with expellees, will be held on Monday February 16th.
